Why Kidney Health Amsterdam UMC?
Launching an excellence center for Kidney Health as strategic added value for Amsterdam UMC
Kidney diseases represent a growing societal and healthcare challenge, with a high disease burden, substantial healthcare costs, and major health inequalities. In the Amsterdam region (~2.5 million inhabitants) alone, more than 250,000 people live with kidney disease. Effective prevention and treatment require better translation of fundamental insights into clinical application.
During this meeting Amsterdam UMC will launch the excellence research center Kidney Health Amsterdam UMC. This center brings together clinical nephrology, nephropathology, epidemiology, and fundamental research into one integrated platform. By focusing on rare kidney diseases, immunopathology, and life-course related conditions, the excellence center aims to accelerate innovation, reduce health inequalities, and sustainably improve care for kidney patients.
